Online hate mail hurts Gracia

Following her incredible loss in the first round of the US Open, French tennis player Caroline Garcia claimed to have received hate mail online. She accused unhealthy betting of being the immediate cause of players' harassment on social media.

She appeared completely uneasy by the straight emotional damage to players like her. There must be some check on social media sites. Her agonies are clear through her painful words.

Garcia did not deter posting glimpses of the vitriol she and her family were subjected to on social media. She also criticised social media companies' insufficient dimensions to weed out hate speech.

She took time to post her words on social media sites, which doesn't stop it, even when artificial intelligence is extremely advanced. Matches and the sport continue to partner with bookmakers, which attracts new entrants to risky betting, she maintained.

Clarifying her sentiments she pointed out that the days of cigarette brands sponsoring sports are long moved. Yet, here we are unsatisfactorily promoting betting companies, which vigorously ruin the lives of some people.

Garcia said the messages strained players, seriously after a tough loss in the match when they were "emotionally destroyed", and she was nervous about how younger players are concerned.

Sharing her emotional views, Defending US Open champion Coco Gauff said there were times she would spend 30 minutes blocking abusive accounts on her social media but people would make new ones.
