Annual Eid celebrations

Clearly, the main activity of the annual Eid celebration remains attending a relative's residence. On this particular occasion, relatives make sure to see each other at home.  They are amused by a wide variety of dishes. The sweet flavour of the most significant meal, sewai , seems to be blending with joy and celebration. Even so, traditional recipes are significantly altered for the celebration.  During a visit to a relative's home, it became more apparent that not only did the dishes on the table resemble those of a five-star hotel, but also...  The golden-coloured cutlery placed on the table created the illusion of an upscale hotel. Each item placed on the table served as a reminder of the refined and opulent way of life.

Labourers brave cold

W
hile sitting by the window at some height on Sunday, varied scenes appear. If heavy vehicles were passing on the bridge, the labourers remain busy spreading out the leather sheets in the open available space.

It is the start of a new year, so there stands nothing wrong with taking a moment to take stock of those who brave the icy weather for earnings.

They know they do not have cosy cardigans and clothing to put on to cover their bodies. Yet their physical fitness looks in their long hours of hard labour.

Despite the minimum temperature going as low as 9° Celsius in Jajmau, there were a few noticed soaking themselves in the warmth of sunlight.

The labourers were not distracted from performing their assigned work of spreading the tanned and coloured leather sheets by fixing them to the wooden Takht to dry under the hazy sun.

It is quite a strenuous job for them, as they assert in tandem. When they were further asked to explain the nature of their job, they answered we do not care much about the colder weather.

Instead, we think of our livelihood. They did not shy away from saying that the wet pieces of leather sheets are usually dry in this wildly traditional way.

Working for the past several months a quite young worker, replenished with little guilt at the idea of his poor status, maintained that we did not think much about the nature of work. What we focused upon was used to be the wages at the end of the day.

Why should we not overlook all the pitiable details of our lives? We could not wait to shift to another job. We did not flail the easily available work, stated the third wager.

We did not often talk about the things that had happened in our lives. We merely talk about our struggles, existing impulses, and current tasks. We had a pleasant time filled with reciprocal rapport, care, and undeniably enabling conversations, they further reacted with confidence.

If we would consider the coldness persisting adequately, there was suffering for our families. One among them intervened to utter that there was no escape from natural phenomena. Life remains a bit more tough.
