Students asked Hindi word for tea
In front of all the young students studying in class tenth, an elderly man wearing an outdated, loose-fitting shirt and pants poses a straightforward question. His dress made a look but his ingenuity overawed all.
Seeing all the younger boys at the location was as much of a spectacle as the crowd, especially given that each attendee wore a casual dress at that bizarre time.
What did they not realise they may be questioned to answer? They knew not the answer as well. In the past, students have quietly believed that knowledge speaks loudly, even though this is still a time for broad reflection on the quality of today's education.
The younger group was unable to respond to the query promptly, even if the unfamiliar question was too difficult to answer. The question was more challenging, but it did demand a practical intelligence in every way.
Everyone in the open area seemed to be on the instant verge of giddiness. The very question looked small, but it brought a line of anxiety among all the students present in the open field.
They were even stunned to hear the candid question. How many of us actually know the Hindi word for tea? The answer cannot be quite as easy, as Chai does not stand widely as an exact Hindi word for tea. The simple looking students did not appear ready to chase the challenge as the question was not so easy to chase.
When the aged person told the pure Hindi word for the much-used word Chai in our daily parlance, there remained only clapping all around. The students were quite stunned to hear the fresh word for tea. Even the man with the camera was overheard uttering every word of immediate praise for the simple-looking man.
The spotlight falls on more than just the senior man who read aloud the unique three separate words kheer, neer, and ush rigidly in the Hindi terminology for tea. These words were definitely not used in our conversation. Exact Hindi words for common man's tea made the huge gathering clap and clap.
