Long power cut around Jajmau

Recently, Jajmau residents faced a long power cut. It was quite intolerable. Some residents were reportedly sheltered at their relatives' residences in nearby localities. It was definitely a harrowing experience, undoubtedly. People, anyhow, tolerated the worst situation. Such a long-duration power failure in the main localities of the Jajmau area left hapless residents, old ladies, young mothers, and others leaving their homes for relatives' homes, where power supply continued without any disruption.  A totally different scene erupted over a little longer power disruption in Jajmau. There was no clear-cut information about the restoration of the power supply. The residents honestly endured the unsatisfactory situation with the support of an inverter up to 07 a.m.  Certain families moved to their relatives' places to beat the heat.  Even the political leaders kept on asking for the exact timing of the restoration of the normal electricity supply. Rainfall variations in Kanpur and Alld

Despite being geographically part of the enormous Indo-Gangetic Plain, Kanpur and Allahabad, respectively, have exhibited relatively contrasting daily minimum temperatures during these exceptionally significant days due to a very tropical monsoon environment. Surely, Allahabad requires relief in the form of natural rain. "It just blows my mind", tells the man in haste to move on. He even uses the local popular accent in his vexation.

There are undeniably comparable weather differences now in Kanpur, a city known for its scorching summers. These days, Kanpur receives a lot more rain than the famous city of Allahabad. Rain helps regulate everyday temperature by cooling the environment and is a key factor in soothing people and giving relief to residents from now unbearable hot weather. His anguish hinted how disturbed he felt in absence of rain in the city areas.

It helps in spreading colder, fresher air from the pervading hotness. A visit to the place makes us realise this particular genuine difference. Allahabad has not had rain for the past weeks, say the irate people there. A young man stated: What we really have been desperately waiting for was rain so that we could realise the decreasing intensity of the hot days. What they instantly require badly is the heavy rain, as they pointed out."

In stark contrast to this type of situation, the far more pleasant air in Kanpur proves this to be a crucial difference between the two cities on these different days. An auto driver talking to passengers expressed his utmost painful surprise that Allahabad had no rain despite the ongoing months of extreme rains according to the Hindi Calendar.

While the overall climate is similar in both the separate cities, there are slight regional differences within the state of Uttar Pradesh. Allahabad (Prayagraj) currently does not have rain because August is typically the tail end of the monsoon season in the populous state.  However, the people in this city do not feel  quite at ease with no quantity of rain in the past  several days.

Their deep concern is amply evident on their faces when they start describing the worse condition of the most-awaited rain in this popular city. The monsoon's activity remains thoroughly out of sight, as the people there react sadly and badly. Undoubtedly, the rain is said to have been completely absent in the region, which is characterised by variations.

In previous years, the state received less rain than places like Madhya Pradesh due to the unique pattern of the low-pressure bands migrating from the Bay of Bengal in late July and August. At the time of this enquiry in late August, there are evidently no active rain-producing storms that are currently having a significant negative influence upon the city.

While no definitive figure is available for every year, the average rainfall has been estimated at up to 5.53 inches (141 mm) for September after a week in the city of Kanpur. The city relishes rain, practically, or more precisely, a monsoon, from July to the ensuing month of September. The rainfall distribution for September can be uneven.

Some years have recorded quite heavy showers concentrated in a few days, while other periods within the month have been comparatively quite dry. Kanpur has reportedly received an average annual rainfall of 898 mm in 43 rainy days.

A morning bus journey beginning from Kanpur's Rama Devi crossing did not fail to prove that the rain was dropping up to Fatehpur. It was quite comfortable weather till the Civil Lines Bus Depot arrived. Though there was sun in some places on the route. But in the return journey, the weather was not too pleasant.

It remained for the passengers in the bus. The temperature began to dip after that stoppage. Not only was the cool air blowing, but there was some light rain on the way. Till reaching the precincts of Kanpur, the rain was falling. This proves that Kanpur experiences more rain than  Allahabad (Prayagraj?
