Intense passion for swimming

Finding a lanky boy in a dark red T-shirt wandering around as though he had just returned from his regular daily swimming practice was obviously a total surprise. This  was not the case at all. He can't explain why he decided on routine swimming, despite his considerable height. He didn't appear to realise that the chlorine in the water would turn his face dark. He and two other older boys were swimming without realising this important fact. This will continue for a minimum period of one full month, as was revealed. Every day, these three lads go to a nearby pool to practice swimming. But the younger one did not go for the usual practice  on the particular day since he had developed a slight cough, which was definitely learned following his smart disclosure in the night.  He seemed to be unaware of the fact that chlorine in the water would darken his fair face. Unaware of this significant reality, he and two others continued swimming. This  goes on regularly but sudd...

Push & pull points mar students' hopes

Students' migration

As news of the county's students' normal migration persisted to spread this year, we found that several push and pull factors dashed their optimistic expectations. Restricted possibilities, corruption, bureaucracy, social concerns, and economic desires are assertive examples of push factors. On the other hand, pull factors surely include global culture, networking, financial assistance and scholarships, job opportunities, and higher academic prospects.

India struggles with systemic issues like outdated curricula, lack of research budget, and restricted job chances, making it challenging for the students to achieve their career objectives.

Frustrations with government systems, red tape, and corruption force students to seek countries with fairer and less arbitrary processes.

Growing intolerance, discrimination, and safety concerns also contribute to the definite decision to leave. High competition, limited pay, and inconsistent career paths in sectors like engineering, IT, and academia lead the students to explore better opportunities abroad.

Foreign universities certainly offer world-class education, research options, and global acclaim, attracting Indian students seeking quality education. Students feel that studying abroad will enhance their job prospects and provide access to better career opportunities.

Availability of financial aid and scholarships in foreign universities is another effective lure. Exposure to myriad cultures, lifestyles, and professional networks is an added edge of studying abroad.

Popular Destinations are said to be Canada, the US, and the UK, respectively. Despite a decline in the last year due to diplomatic stresses and stricter visa rules, Canada remains a favoured terminus for Indian students.

Whereas the US has also seen a decline among Indian students due to visa issues, it remains a sought-after destination for comparatively higher education.

The UK has presented restrictions on student visas, limiting the number of dependents, which has led to a decline in Indian students.

Countries like Russia, Germany, and even Uzbekistan are gaining popularity among Indian students due to affordable education, simplified visa regulations, and expanding academic partnerships.

There are clear impacts of this trend on the country. The departure of country's students grows profound unease about brain drain and its implications for India's development.

Our country is thus losing talented individuals who could ably contribute to the country's growth and innovation.

There remains a strong need for reform. The trend highlights the need for India to reform its education system, improve job chances, and create a more favourable environment for students to stay and grow.
