Pricey vegetables bring tough time

We agree that the most recent difficult time for the common people was brought on by more expensive vegetables, which made them reflect on what our beloved everyday precious life now entails. The surprising circumstance has become a difficult period to endure. Due to several circumstances, vegetable prices are currently high in several places, including Kanpur.  Various common vegetables are now less available and more expensive because of supply chain disruptions, particularly those caused by the rainy climate. Why does stand this disparity in milk prices?

Now that the prices are finally out, the 2025 milk price race is kicking into special gear. That means we all will have cheaper milk pouches to reach with our financial capabilities ahead. Though it has been shown to provide some relief for consumers, only this brand, Amul, has provided relief to consumers with a little business trickery.

The only relief comes on a one-litre pack, there is no reduction on the price of half a kg packing. Likewise, other brands have not brought such a price change. Why does stand this disparity?

India's leading dairy brand has announced a 1 price cut ₹ on some of its milk variants. Notably, the price cut applies only to one-litre pouches. This move would prompt customers to purchase larger quantities rather than the smaller 500ml packs.

Market watchers see it as a strategic move to basically counter the growing competition in the dairy sector. This is the first time in years that the company has brought down its milk prices after a series of consistent hikes. Some react to the cumin in a camel's mouth. This is surely not a substantive cut.

It looks to be an attempt to stay competitive, particularly following this price cut. Will this step regarding the price cut provide relief to consumers? There remain contradictory reactions to this approach. Some consumers do not see much difference while others would try to switch to this brand to save at least one rupee. Could Amul maintain its position strongly in the market with such a small price reduction?
