Long power cut around Jajmau

Recently, Jajmau residents faced a long power cut. It was quite intolerable. Some residents were reportedly sheltered at their relatives' residences in nearby localities. It was definitely a harrowing experience, undoubtedly. People, anyhow, tolerated the worst situation. Such a long-duration power failure in the main localities of the Jajmau area left hapless residents, old ladies, young mothers, and others leaving their homes for relatives' homes, where power supply continued without any disruption.  A totally different scene erupted over a little longer power disruption in Jajmau. There was no clear-cut information about the restoration of the power supply. The residents honestly endured the unsatisfactory situation with the support of an inverter up to 07 a.m.  Certain families moved to their relatives' places to beat the heat.  Even the political leaders kept on asking for the exact timing of the restoration of the normal electricity supply. Ganga cleaning in Kanpur still undone

Every now and then, we come across the news about Ganga cleaning. At present its exposure heightens amply because looming Mahakumbh at Triveni. Verily Informational references typically begin with a specific amount of diagnosis and certainly conclude with restoratives.

Too much news often covers news about the delays in speedy corrective efforts being applied to clean the river. Indeed several years have passed to learn that the river's cleaning result over time has not been finished until now.

Keeping the river Ganga clean and clear was too difficult before Mahakumbh-2025. In reality, the Ganga is undeniably heavily contaminated in Kanpur. The lavish cleaning endeavours imbued with apt professional proficiency have surprisingly not come with the exact expectations as the news goes.

It is thought that cleaning the Ganga before the MahaKumbh Mela remains challenging. As many as 39 of the 112 pumps that carry sewage to the Kanpur city's STP are reportedly broken. Is this incompetency robust enough to withstand the rigours and uncertainty of cleaning and increasing the purity of a vital river?

Did such an opportunity to clean the river goad the company to realise the need of completing the cleaning task within the next few remaining days fully? The Maha Kumbh Mela in Prayagraj beginning from January 13 will conclude on February 26, 2025.

The most significant concern as found by Kanpur Nagar District Magistrate Rakesh Kumar is that a total of 39 pumps of KRMPL were found to have been closed. Officials have been directed to presently get the non-functioning pumps repaired and made functional timely.

It has been found that National Mission for Clean Ganga in the city had three years ago awarded the very contract to Kanpur River Management to maintain and operate the sewage treatment plants and sewage pumping stations of the city for 15 years.

But to our surprise, the company failed on most occasions. Due to the malfunction of pumps, crores of litres of sewage fell into the river Ganga from the Sisamau drainage for several days. A mild criticism with a hint of incisiveness, does not appear like caustic, ironic, or bitter. This point encourages or compels us  for contemplation in specific, random situations rather than resembling intricate dialectical procedures.

At the same time, the company also showed gross negligence in the maintenance of other SPS, This led to a registered FIR and a fine. However, the company still exists in the city.

The widely known National Mission for Clean Ganga Director General said that a new agency should be selected due to the Kanpur River Management Private Limited not managing sewage treatments adequately.

Cleaning of the holy river requires an effective measure whereas it seems too often to have been taken upon as simple and tedious, and there is nothing bad if there is put a little bit more managerial weight behind enhancing its public perception.
