With the rapid rise in retail prices, hapless customers are compelled to buy eggs via online delivery.  This remains a practical fact at this crucial time. Why do farmers not get subsidised seed?


The Indian Council of Agricultural Research used to bring time to time untried improved versions of seeds for field crops, horticultural crops and medicinal crops as well. The experts keep in mind the ravages of weather while developing better quality seeds for the benefit of the farmers. 

Their indomitable efforts remain to help poor farmers increase their yields and income instantly. However, their drawback is the delay in getting subsidised seeds. Does it not show their harrowing experience?

Experts have hailed the action to enhance farm productivity and farmers' income. Basically, the move on scrutiny is redundant without satisfactory subsidy for buying the high-yielding, climate-resilient and bio-fortified varieties for sowing improved agricultural and horticultural crops. This is plainly something of a procedure for the poor farmers, who really exemplify everything that the new varieties are all about improving yields These are superior for so many more causes than their customary seeds.

This remains the primary fear for small and marginal farmers as they may find it demanding to embrace these latest varieties. 

Climate-resilient seed varieties boost agricultural productivity and ensure food security, especially as erratic weather patterns bring havoc on farmers worldwide. 

However, it is of utmost importance to recognise that the country's farmers require additional financial resources to embrace such innovations fast, say agrarian experts.

As many as 109 high-yielding varieties of 61 crops, including 34 field crops and 27 horticultural crops, have come to the fore. The field crop varieties include cereals, millets, forage crops, oilseeds, pulses, sugarcane, cotton and fibre crops. 

For horticulture, the government released new varieties of fruits, vegetables, plantation crops, tubers, spices, flowers and medicinal plants. These seeds can yield good crops even in unfavourable weather and are heavy in nutrition.
